Only the citizens of this country can say what is a threat to the Macedonian identity, no one from outside, neither the EU nor the USA, said Edward P. Joseph, a Senior Fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) during his visit to Skopje.
The professor says that the country faces a threat from Bulgaria, which does not recognize the Macedonian history and the Macedonian identity and thereby violates the spirit of the 2017 Good-Neighborliness Treaty between Bulgaria and Macedonia.
“The treaty is about good neighborliness, and Bulgaria’s behavior is anything but friendly, even hostile,” says Joseph, who participated in an international conference focused on the Ukrainian crisis.
