Last week, the Macedonian Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) conducted an unscheduled inspection of a business, a butcher shop, in the Municipality of Vasilevo. During the inspection, a cold storage unit located on private property was discovered; it had not been registered with the Food and Veterinary Agency.
“During the inspection, official FVA veterinarians discovered and seized 400 kilograms of frozen meat preparations, specifically patties and meat rolls, as well as 70 kilograms of offal. The entire seized quantity of meat preparations and offal was disposed of safely at a landfill, in accordance with established legal procedures.
Due to the irregularities identified, an order was issued for the temporary closure of the cold storage unit. Furthermore, the business entity was fined for operating an unregistered facility and for failing to label its products,” the FVA stated.
Between January and August 2026, FVA inspection services conducted a total of 74,838 inspections.
