The Macedonian Ministry of Digital Transformation launched Wednesday the m.Uslugi (m.Services) mobile application, designed to provide citizens with easier access to electronic public services and digital documents via their mobile phones.
The application will enable faster and simpler access to public services for citizens.
“This marks our first step toward a digital wallet. The application is free to download and is not mandatory, yet it offers many new conveniences. We are shifting our focus toward making the state accessible via mobile phone, essentially, right in the palm of your hand,” said Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski ahead of the application’s launch.
The minister noted that m.Uslugi will provide access to electronic versions of national ID cards and driver’s licenses, as well as the first three digital services available to citizens. According to Andonovski, the application can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store and the App Store; users can then retrieve their digital documents by entering their personal information and ID card number.
“A year ago, at the Western Balkans Digital Summit in Skopje, I said that I wanted a time to come when a citizen would no longer have to take a day off work to obtain a document, wait in line at a counter, or carry paperwork from one institution to another, a time when there would be no need to know someone in the administration, and no need to pay to get things done faster. Today, with the m.Uslugi (m.Services) mobile application, we are taking a concrete step in precisely that direction,” Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said at Wednesday’s launch event.
