Ilinden Mayor elected as member of ARLEM’s highest governing body

Ilinden Municipality Mayor Aleksandar Georgievski has been elected as a member of the Bureau of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM)—the highest governing body of this international organization. This election serves as a significant recognition for the Municipality of Ilinden, as well as for the Republic of Macedonia, contributing to the strengthening of international cooperation and the country’s institutional representation.

The election was confirmed during the 17th plenary session of ARLEM, held in Tirana, Republic of Albania, where Mayor Georgievski participated as a representative of the Association of the Units of Local Self-Government of the Republic of Macedonia (ZELS).

The Bureau is the highest governing body of ARLEM, which operates within the framework of the European Committee of the Regions and serves as a vital platform for dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of experience among local and regional authorities.

Through his election to the Bureau, Mayor Georgievski will have the opportunity to actively contribute to defining strategic priorities, shaping policies, and guiding the future activities of ARLEM, while simultaneously fostering and deepening cooperation among local and regional authorities across Europe and the Mediterranean. Mayor Georgievski will hold this position for a period of two and a half years, starting July 2027.
