Young married couples, single parents under 40 to be exempted from utility fees after building their home

At a session of the Skopje City Council on Friday, councilors discussed a measure to exempt young married couples, as well as single parents up to the age of 40, from utility fees. Under this measure, they will be exempted from a portion of the fee for the development of construction land, which amounts to 60 percent of the total utility fees.

“Young people up to the age of 40 will have the opportunity to build their own homes without paying utility fees. Through various measures—implemented by both the Government and the City of Skopje, numerous opportunities have been made available to young people during this period. This serves as the ‘cherry on top’ for this year, within the new term of the current administration. I welcome this decision and recommend that we adopt it unanimously in the Skopje City Council,” said AnetaMarkovskaIlievska, city councilor from the ranks ofVMRO-DPMNE.

“This decision provides an exemption from the payment of utility connection fees for young married couples and single parents up to the age of 40, covering one residential unit, specifically, a house of up to 120 square meters. Applicants must provide a certificate from the Cadastre confirming that they do not own any residential property. This is one of the measures through which the City of Skopje provides direct assistance to young married couples and single parents in resolving their housing needs,” saidVMRO-DPMNE city councilorSashoKukeski.
