Visit to the U.S. significant for deepening partnership and attracting new investments, says ruling party official

President of the VMRO-DPMNE Women’s Union Marija Miteva in an interview withTV24’s Analysis political show discussed the Macedonian delegation’s visit to New York. She highlighted the importance of these meetings for deepening partnerships and creating conditions for future investments and economic cooperation. She noted that the US views the country as a serious partner and that the Government, through diplomatic efforts, is working to build friendly relations and open up new political and economic opportunities.
“This visit took place on three levels: one in Washington, one in New York, and one involving the business community, not to mention the Macedonian diaspora, which I do not recall ever being visited by anyone from SDS. In Washington, we held meetings with members of Congress, while in New York, we met with the Deputy Secretary of State, attended by actual State Department officials responsible for the Balkans and the region. What matters is whether we have a political presence, whether we are one of the countries the US views as a serious partner (we are); whether we have endeavored to build friendships and pave the way for future investments, including on the economic front (we have); and whether this Government acts with integrity regarding diplomatic relations (it certainly does),” said Miteva.
Regarding the blockades hindering Macedonia’s path to EU accession, Miteva notes that the current situation stems from the flawed policies of the previous administration. She pointed out the need to continue the dialogue, present the positions of the state and its citizens, and seek a solution that allows Macedonia to advance toward European Union membership while safeguarding its national interests.
