VMRO-DPMNE repaid EUR 2.31 billion debt over two years, compared to EUR 806 million during SDSM/DUI government, says ruling party MP

VMRO-DPMNE MP Bojan Stojanoski presented a comparison of the funds allocated for the repayment of public debt principal during the first 24 months of the terms of governments led by SDSM/DUI and VMRO-DPMNE, respectively.

According to the data shared by Stojanoski, during the first two years of the government led by SDSM and DUI, MKD 49.6 billion, equivalent to EUR 806 million, in debt principal were repaid.

For the corresponding period under the government led by VMRO-DPMNE, the MP notes that MKD 142.2 billion, or EUR 2.31 billion, in debt principal were paid off.

“That represents 2.87 times, or 187%, more funds directed toward servicing the maturing principal,” Stojanoski pointed out.

The MP highlights that the funds currently being paid out by the incumbent government relate to obligations incurred during the term of the previous administration.

According to Stojanoski, responsible management of public finances entails the timely servicing of obligations, while also ensuring the availability of funds for the smooth functioning of the state, as well as for investments and development.

“EUR 2.31 billion in principal repaid over two years. The figures best illustrate the magnitude of the obligations the state is servicing,” the ruling party representative said in a social media post.
