Macedonian high school students come last in PISA testing

Four years ago on the bottom of the world, now on the Balkans. North Macedonia is ranked 67th at the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) international testing of high school students aged 15. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) released the results on Tuesday.

Macedonian students are given 393 points for reading, 394 points for mathematics and 413 points for natural sciences.The testing is carried out in 79 countries or economies

China is ranked first on the OECD list, followed by Singapore, Macao and Hong Kong. Estonia is the best-ranked European country in fifth. In regional terms, Slovenia is ranked 21st, followed by Croatia (29th), Serbia (45th), Montenegro (52nd), Bosnia-Herzegovina (62nd), North Macedonia (67th) and Kosovo (75th). About 5,500 high school students were tested across North Macedonia.

Worldwide, Chinese students have proven to be the best in all categories. In second place is Singapore, and the next three places are again reserved for Chinese provinces. Estonia is the best of the European countries.
