The state will fully cover the social contributions of employees in media outlets, TV
and radio stations, press and electronic web-portals, said Deputy PM for European
Affairs Bujar Osmani and Minister for Communications, Accountability and
Transparency Robert Popovski on Thursday.
Deputy PM Osmani told a press conference that the Government passed this
measure in consultation with the Independent Union of Journalists and Media
Workers (SSNM) as support to those on the front line in the fight against the COVID-
19 pandemic.
“I have warned for a while now on the threat of fake news and propaganda amid the
efforts to cope with the COVID-19 challenges. Those who publish accurate
information need immediate support in fighting fake news. This is how we launched
the initiative for support to journalists and media workers, who alongside health
workers and members of the security services, were and still are on the frontlines of
the pandemic fight,” said Osmani.
