The Ministry of Health said Wednesday an analysis of data from COVID-19 patients in January has shown that a sample from a private laboratory within the Zhan Mitrev Clinic detected the UK variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The sample belonged to a 46-year-old man who was recorded as a recovered patient on January 22.
The patient initially tested positive on 29 December 2020 and then again on 4 January 2021, when he was hospitalized at the clinic, and again on January 15. The patient did not specify any contacts or travel abroad in the epidemiological survey.
