VMRO-DPMNE proposed to the Parliament a bill that will postpone the census planned for April. The opposition party collected over 100,000 signatures from citizens in a week and insists that this completely delegitimizes the census.

“With the enormous popular support behind us, we, the VMRO-DPMNE MPs, propose that the census law is suspended. We call for an urgent meeting of the Parliament to stop the politicized census that threatens to become a national disaster,” said VMRO-DPMNE MP Ivanka Vasilevska.

She stressed that VMRO-DPMNE is not against the census, because such a statistical operation is very important and necessary for the Republic of Macedonia, but said that we are and will be against a “forged and rigged census with which the government will fake figures that are the result of party coalition bargaining and agreements to the detriment of all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia”.
