SSM demands employment for a maximum of one year and a maternity leave of 12 months

Without groupings and by maintaining a physical distance as required by the protocols against COVID-19, the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (SSM), marked Labor Day – May 1 on Friday.

“We demand the adoption of a new law on labor relations with European standards which will contain fixed-term employment contracts for a maximum of one year, and they will be automatically transformed into permanent employment contracts after that one year. Second, maternity leave of 12 months. Third, COVID-19 to be an occupational disease paid with 100% compensation following the example of the Health Trade Union and the Macedonian Police Trade Union which are united in the SSM,” said Dimovski.
