The next meeting of the Commission for Historical Issues between Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia will be held in October. That is at the request of the Macedonian side, co-chair of that commission Angel Dimitrov told BNT.

There is no progress, but there is nothing to change quickly. Almost nothing is fulfilled with the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation… That is the main problem, not the work of the historical commission, said Dimitrov, although he admitted that history is the most painful point.

“The necessary catharsis in historical thinking cannot happen without political will for that, and diplomacy is only a function of politics and should not be emphasized,” Dimitrov said.
