A third dose of the vaccine is recommended for people over the age of 60, all health workers regardless of their age, and all immunocompromised patients, also regardless of age, said Health Minister Venko Filipche on Thursday, presenting the latest recommendations by the Immunization Committee.
Minister Filipche said the booster shot would be a Pfizer dose, whereas the situation regarding recommendations on vaccines by other producers would be closely monitored.
“Citizens who received a second dose will receive a text message upon the expiry of six months for the third dose. There is no need to go abroad for a third dose. We are giving these recommendations based on experiences from other countries and international institutions. Therefore, citizens can be vaccinated with a third dose regardless of the vaccine they were initially given. There are sufficient vaccine quantities at vaccination sites. This process will be launched on Monday,” said Filipche.
