After a five-day debate, the Parliament passed the 2022 Budget with 63 votes “in favor”, 36 “against” and not a single “abstention”.
Total revenues are planned at the level of MKD 238.9 billion or 30.9 percent of GDP, and expenditures are projected at the level of MKD 272.4 billion, which is 1.4 percent more than this year. The deficit is planned at the level of MKD 33.5 billion or 4.3 percent of GDP and is lower by 2.2 percentage points compared to the estimated deficit in 2021. MKD 37.8 billion is envisaged for capital investments for next year, which is 27 percent more compared to 2021. The so-called “Golden rule in finance”, i.e. the budget deficit is lower than the capital expenditures.
