The National Bank informs that the emergence of counterfeit banknotes in the amount of MKD 2,000 has been reported, for which the Ministry of Interior has been notified to undertake activities within its competence. In order to protect citizens and legal entities, the National Bank points out the way in which it can be easily checked whether it is a forgery.
The emerging type of counterfeit is made of plain (commercial), two-layer paper which, when touched, differs significantly in thickness, hardness and elasticity compared to the original paper on which the banknotes are made.
In addition, the original banknotes contain highly sophisticated protective elements according to which citizens can distinguish and recognize their authenticity.
