March for women’s rights in Skopje

Urgent adoption of the strategy for gender equality, enactment of the Law on Gender Equality, introduction of functional inspection services that prevent exploitation and discrimination of workers and treatment of victims of gender-based violence by the institutions, demanded today the women’s rights activists marched in Skopje, on the occasion of International Women’s Day – March 8.

The march was organized by the Platform for Gender Equality and women’s rights activists, this year under the slogan “Poverty has a female face”.

According to Bojana Jovanovska of the Platform for Gender Equality, this March 8 marks the poverty of women, enabled and maintained by the system, and deepened as a result of the two-year COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences.
