The proposal of the French Presidency to unblock our European path in this form, as it is at the moment, is unacceptable for me, the President, the Government, the coalition partners and the citizens of North Macedonia, said Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski at the joint Press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama after the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels.
The PM added that if an understanding of N. Macedonia’s position is reached during the French presidency, the government is ready to engage in talks on it, so that negotiations can begin by the end of June.
Kovachevski stressed that the citizens can be calm, because the strategic interests and goals of the state are always in the foreground, as well as the fact that no one can impose a solution on the country.
“All 27 leaders, all 27 nations and all 27 countries that have joined the Union, have all proudly joined with all diversity and mutual respect for diversity. None of this was problematic on the European path. We should proudly join the EU, fulfilling all the criteria for membership,” underlined Kovachevski.
