A thirty-two-year-old foreign citizen is suspected of smuggling gold jewelry from Turkey worth 2,200,000 euros, and a customs officer is suspected of helping him. The public prosecutor asks the court to order the two suspects into custody.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office informs that the PPO Skopje issued an order to conduct an investigative procedure against two persons, one of whom is suspected of a crime – smuggling, and the second of assisting in the commission of this crime.

“On March 20, at the Skopje Airport border crossing, upon entering the country, a 32-year-old man with dual Turkish and Serbian citizenship transferred undeclared goods through the customs line. It is about over 43 kilograms of various jewelry, with a total value of 2,200,000 euros. The second suspect deliberately helped him in this by removing the obstacles to the commission of the crime”, informed the PPO.
