Taking into account the recent events in Serbia, as well as the complaints that citizens make about the way of information, the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMS) calls on all media, when reporting on tragic events, to adhere to the highest professional standards and ethical values. This particularly applies to reporting on events involving minors who are perpetrators or victims of crimes.

“News and information programs should not be based on sensationalism but should contain verified information. The inclusion of descriptions, scenes and/or scenes of violence or other material that may threaten the physical, mental and moral development of children and young people must be based on a responsible editorial assessment for their presentation,” AVMS said.
