The Central Invest company owned by the businessman Kocho Angjushev will be the first to bring to Macedonia large battery systems for storing excess electricity produced by power plants from renewable sources.
At the moment, the company is building a new photovoltaic power plant of 6.5MW (megawatts), and batteries will be installed in it as a pilot project in the country.
Batteries are currently the only way to store excess electricity from renewable sources, primarily from solar (photovoltaic) power plants. Storing the surpluses will prevent what is happening now – an overproduction of electricity that cannot be consumed at the time it is produced. The batteries will enable the electricity, which is surplus during the day, to be used when it is needed.
