Just twenty minutes before the rising West Morava destroyed the bridge that connects the villages of Mrchajevce and Slatina, the traffic police stopped a bus with Macedonian license plates full of passengers, which, despite the decision to stop traffic over that bridge, tried to cross the other side, Serbian media report on Saturday.
“It is not known what led the Macedonians to that road, it is possible that they followed bad navigation maps, which have not been updated for a long time, but if the bus appeared on the already unsafe bridge at the moment when its pillars were heavily eroded by the torrent – it would be a huge tragedy,” Serbian media reported.
