The Slovenian Government has declared August 14 as Solidarity Day, citizens will get a day off from work to help those threatened by the devastating floods.

The decision was announced by Prime Minister Robert Golob and he said that the country should end the difficult period in the spirit of solidarity. He added that people would get a day off “to help an acquaintance, a neighbor, a friend and anyone who was affected by the great floods.”

In the video address posted on his Instagramaccount, Golob states that in recent days there have been many initiatives and proposals from citizens regarding the catastrophic floods, and one of them was to declare August 14 as a day off so that “everyone can show that the victims of the floods are not alone.”
