ICOMOS Macedonia launches website with information about 707 Orthodox sacred buildings in Macedonia


During 2022 and 2023, the expert teams of ICOMOS Macedonia monitored the current state of preservation of more than half of the total number of registered and recorded churches and monasteries in all eight dioceses of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archdiocese (MOC-OA), which are located in the territory of the Republic in N. Macedonia.
The project called “Monitoring the Orthodox Cultural Heritage” covered a total of 707 Orthodox sacral buildings, including those that are already well known to the narrow and wider public, but also those that are less known.
