More people died than there were newborns during the summer quarter in Macedonia

In the third quarter of this year, the months of July, August and September, N. Macedonia recorded a negative population increase, that is, more people died than babies were born.

According to the data of the State Statistics Office (SSO), in the third quarter of 2023, the number of live births is 4,453 children, and compared to the same period of the previous year, it is 9.8% less.

The number of people who died in the third quarter of 2023 recorded a decrease of 6.8% compared to the same quarter of 2022, i.e. 4,747 people died, and 8 of them were infants.

The natural increase is negative, – 294 people, which means that the number of live births is lower than the number of dead people by that many people.

In the third quarter of 2023, 4,116 marriages were concluded, which represents a decrease of 11.4% compared to the same period in 2022.
