Macedonian Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski informed Tuesday that an upgrade to the Safe City system that will include highways throughout N. Macedonia and other major cities.
Spasovski made the announcement in response to a reporter’s question after his visit to Shtip police department, and said that Shtip is also part of the upgrade.
“At this moment we only have it in Skopje, Kumanovo and Tetovo, but we are in the process of upgrading the entire system. The upgrade will include highways throughout the country and these three cities, as well as an electronic traffic violation detection. The idea is to expand, above all, to larger cities with a lot more people. Shtip is one of those cities, even though I have to say that this area of the east is quiet, stable, because wherever there is video surveillance, the security situation improves, which helps us improve public security,” said the Interior Minister.
