Considering the latest numbers, with 18 confirmed cases of whooping cough (pertussis) and the rising numbers, especially in the City of Skopje with 14 cases, we have decided to propose that an epidemic is declared in Skopje, said Commission for Infectious Diseases head Aleksandar Petlichkovski on Wednesday.
“This may sound a little frightening, but in reality it should make it easier for us to deal with the risk that comes with whooping cough. In that direction, we are currently preparing, that is, we expect to issue a prepared instruction for dealing with epidemic conditions by the Institute of Public Health, and the key activities should be aimed at completing the missed vaccinations,” said Petlichkovski.
