As the submission deadline expired on Wednesday midnight, the State Election Commission (SEC) has received 17 MP candidate lists for the May 8 parliamentary elections.
Upon receiving the candidate lists, the SEC is set to determine if they were submitted within the legal deadline and if they are composed in line with the Electoral Code provisions. SEC inspects if MP candidates meet the requirements stipulated in the Constitution and Article 7 of the Electoral Code by checking data in registers and records of competent institutions, reads the press release.
