The total amount of generated municipal waste in Macedonia in 2023 was 878,303 tons. The annual amount of generated municipal waste per person was 503 kg, an increase of 7.7 percent compared to 2022. Most of the collected municipal waste (99.8%) is disposed of in landfills, said the State Statistical Office (SSO) on Monday.
The largest amount of collected municipal waste was recorded in the Skopje region – 169,515 tons or 27.3 percent of the total amount collected.
