UN Universal Periodic Review to examine Macedonia’s human rights record

The human rights record of N. Macedonia will be examined by the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group for the fourth time on Thursday, 2 May 2024, in a meeting in Geneva, the UN Office in North Macedonia said in a press release.

Macedonia is one of the 14 countries that should be reviewed by the UPR Working Group, during the upcoming session, which will be held from April 29 to May 10. The first, second and third UPP reviews of Macedonia were held in May 2009, January 2014 and January 2019, respectively, it is written in the announcement.

Countries are expected to explain the steps they have taken to implement the recommendations received during their previous reviews, which they have committed to follow up, as well as to indicate recent developments in the field of human rights in the country.
