As many as 78% of Macedonians believe that the country is moving in the wrong direction, according to the latest survey published by the International Republican Institute IRI conducted in all six countries of the region.

When asked if they would support joining the EU if a referendum were held today, in five of the six countries a large majority of citizens say YES, from 68% in Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to the highest 92% in Albania. The lowest support for the EU is in Serbia at only 40% and only 34% who are against it

However, almost every other Macedonian citizen believes that the European Union has no serious intention to open its doors and offer membership to the country.
