NBRM: 16 percent growth in non-cash payment transactions

Digital technology is increasingly influencing the financial industry. The modernization of payments is particularly pronounced and is gaining momentum in our economy as well. According to the data from the payment statistics for the year 2023 of the National Bank, an increase in non-cash payment transactions of 16% was recorded, compared to 2022, i.e. 87 transactions per capita. According to the World Bank’s global Findex database, the percentage of adults who have made or received digital payments has increased from 44% in 2014 to 64% in 2021 said National Bank Governor Anita Angelovska-Bezhoska at the beginning of the Workshop for journalists titled “Digitalization of financial services and their application in the banking sector”, held at the Macedonian National Bank.
