Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova handed over Thursday the mandate for the formation of a government to VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski, whose party won 58 MP seats in the May 8 parliamentary elections.
Siljanovska-Davkova, referring to the constitutional deadlines and the fact that the Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi was elected with 76 votes, expressed confidence that Mickoski can form a government and therefore entrusts him with the mandate.
The twenty-day deadline for the formation of a new government starts Thursday. The PM-designate Mickoski said Wednesday that he expected the new government to be formed before the deadline, and after the celebration of the party’s anniversary on June 17.
