The Skopje-based Criminal Court on Friday ordered suspended prison sentences for seven people in connection with the attack on M-NAV staff on January 4, for the criminal offence – preventing an official in performance of duty.

Six of the defendants were sentenced to an alternative measure for the crime they committed – a suspended sentence, that is, a six-month prison sentence, which will not be carried out if they do not commit a new crime within one year and six months after the verdict becomes final.

For one defendant, who took more serious actions to obstruct the official and was previously convicted of an offense against public safety, an alternative measure was imposed – a conditional sentence with protective supervision, i.e. a prison sentence of two years, which will not be carried out if within five years after the finality of the judgment, he did not commit a new criminal offense, and at the same time the Court determined other obligations for that defendant that will be subject to protective supervision.
