Net external debt at 29.9 percent of projected GDP

The Macedonian National Bank presented on Friday the latest data related to the net external debt, which amounts to EUR 4.35 billion or 29.9 percent of the projected GDP in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024.

At the end of the 2024 Q1, on 31.03.2024, the net external debt amounts to 4,350 million euros (or 29.9% of the projected GDP). The net external debt of the country, in the first quarter of 2024, has decreased by 109 million euros, or by 2.4%. In terms of structure, private net debt continues to have a larger share in total net debt with 62%.

During the 2024 Q1, the negative net international investment position (NIIP) increased by 6 million euros and amounted to 8,506 million euros, i.e. 58.4% of the projected GDP for 2024
