The Strumica firefighters will receive a bonus of MKD 10,000 for their dedicated and round-the-clock fight against wildfires, Strumica Mayor Kostadin Kostadinov said on Friday.
“MKD 10,000 bonus for each Strumica firefighter! It’s the least I can do for my firefighters who combat the wildfires day and night, devotedly to their last breath. In the name of all Strumica residents, thank you! May God bless you and protect our Strumica,” Kostadinov said in a Facebook post.
The Strumica mayor, as the firefighters later said in a Facebook post, was forced to get IV fluids on Thursday after inhaling smoke during the day while helping to extinguish the fire.
