Inspections in Dojran, Ohrid, Struga and Prespa – 8.7 tons of unsafe food destroyed

Over 8,700 kilograms of unsafe food was destroyed after last week’s action by the inspection teams of the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) carried out in facilities and food operators in the tourist centers of Dojran, Ohrid, Struga and Prespa, reads the Agency’s press release.
“With the controls, the implementation of good production and hygiene practice (DPP/DHP) based on the HACCP principles, the infrastructure conditions in the facilities were checked, and the activities were controlled according to the registration of food operators. In conditions of high external temperatures, emphasis with the controls was placed on the conditions of keeping and storing the products and the food’s shelf life. The extraordinary inspections in these four tourist centers covered 112 facilities – food operators. 54 fines were imposed on 54 food operators, of which eight food operators were banned from working until the detected inconsistencies are removed,” the Food Agency said in a press release.
