The Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) has launched an investigation after receiving information in the media about irregularities found during an inspection at the Social Services Center, related to the case of the death of a mother and her daughter on the territory of Skopje’s Karposh.
“Based on the information released in the media regarding irregularities found during the inspection at the Social Services Center, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Macedonia has opened a case after receiving information and forwarded it to the competent procedure of the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will undertake verification activities to examine whether these irregularities meet the elements of a criminal offense prosecuted ex officio,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.
The case has been forwarded for further proceedings to the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will have to verify the allegations of possible shortcomings in the actions of the institutions.
The PPO informs that it will be determined whether the irregularities found contain elements of a criminal offense prosecuted ex officio.
It is now being investigated which competent institutions made omissions after at least three physical assaults that the public has become aware of occurred after the divorce papers were filed. One was in December, for which the Skopje-based Social Services Center received a letter from the Ministry of Interior and for which there were witnesses. The second, while the now deceased Ivana was hospitalized at the digestive surgery clinic, and the third assault on the tragic day, for which the police has acquired a video recording.
