Former secret police chief Sasho Mijalkov, who has been unavailable to law enforcement for a couple of days, appeared in front of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for organized crime on Tuesday “to pick up the house arrest order”.
Mijalkov claims he did not escape but was in isolation due to high temperature and coronavirus symptoms, finding out about the situation that ensued only this morning.
He apologized to the citizens, the Prime Minister, the Government and all institutions for the unpleasantness that unfolded, while adding that he would not run but stay in the country.
“The people who know me can tell you that I stick to my words. I gave my word in public that I would not run away, ever,” Mijalkov told TV24.
