Ammunition was found in a bus belonging to the Durmo Tourscompany, known for the 2019 bus accident that killed 16 passengers, during a search at the Tabanovce border crossing at the entrance to the country.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) confirmed that an investigation has been launched against two people, who have been given precautionary measures.
According to information from the Customs Administration, mobile teams found around 600 bullets with a caliber for light and long weapons during a control of the bus. Unofficially, the ammunition belonged to one of the drivers, who hid it in a special place in the vehicle.
The PPO confirms that the procedure is ongoing.
“The Kumanovo Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation against two people, who have been given precautionary measures at the prosecutor’s proposal. Actions continue to be taken to fully solve the incident and investigate the potential involvement of other people,” the PPO said.
Authorities also note that work is underway to fully determine the origin of the ammunition, its purpose and the possible involvement of other individuals.
