SDSM leader: Humiliating “fingerprint” for doctors instead of raising their wages

Opposition SDSM leader Venko Filipche accuses that the latest “fingerprint” measure to be introduced as a way of keeping track of the physicians’ working hours is humiliating and inappropriate. The measure comes from a minister of health who has no knowledge of the healthcare sector, stressed Filipche, who is also a neurosurgeon.

He added that such a measure reduces the medical profession to the level of workers who are required to report at the beginning and end of the working day, which does not happen anywhere in the world.

“The question arises: what if a doctor comes in the afternoon and is called by a younger coworker for a consultation? Will a “fingerprint” be left then? Will the minister be paid additionally?” Filipche added.

The opposition leader also stresses that the measure does not take into account the quality of medical interventions, which can last up to several hours and are of crucial importance for saving human lives.

Filipche points out that instead of introducing humiliating measures, the Government should seriously increase the physicians’ wages, as the only way to keep them in public healthcare.
