Tuesday’s action in which drug lords that ruled the underground for decades were brought to justice is not an isolated case, but part of a clear and synchronized offensive that originated from the Strumica Interior Department against crime that has been developing for years, said the Public Security Bureau head Aleksandar Janev, regarding the action in which seven people were arrested, and an organized criminal group involved in illegal drug trafficking was suppressed.
“Part of the bastions of that underworld is no longer at large. A criminal network connected to illegal drug activities that, in the case of Strumica, has existed for more than two or three decades. Unfortunately, no one has tried to stand in the way of these structures so far. The same is true of other cities. All of this is not a coincidence, it is the product of a synchronized and initiated action with the exchange of information that originated from the Strumica PD,” said Janev.
The PSB director also adds that the ranks of the police have been consolidated, there is success in the actions that are being carried out, and there is no longer an outflow of information, which was the case at the beginning after the arrival of the new leadership in the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
In connection with the latest action, the police arrested four people from Strumica, two from Skopje and one from Shtip, and searches were carried out at 15 locations in the area of Skopje, Strumica and Shtip.
During the implementation of the police raid, material evidence was secured, i.e. narcotics, a handgun, a gun frame and ammunition, seven passenger motor vehicles, seven telephones, as well as a large amount of money were found and confiscated.
