Kovachevski – Petkov: Continuation of the dialogue for a solution based on European values

On the sidelines of his working visit to the Vatican and Rome on the occasion of May 24 – the Day of the All-Slavic educators Saints Cyril and Methodius, Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski met today with his Bulgarian counterpart Kiril Petkov, the government’s press service informs.

“At the meeting, which was attended by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Bujar Osmani and Teodora Genchovska, Prime Ministers Kovacevski and Petkov had a constructive conversation not only on open political issues but also on the economic crisis facing the world. It was emphasized that the Government of Northern Macedonia has a clear goal which refers to dealing with the crisis, protecting the standard of the most vulnerable categories of citizens, supporting companies to be liquid and providing adequate investments that will boost economic growth,” reads the press release.

At the meeting, Prime Ministers Kovachevski and Petkov were informed by the line ministers about the talks at the ministerial level, for which they agreed that they should continue in order to reach a document that would be acceptable to both countries and could be a basis for a solution that could be shared with the institutions in both countries.

“The meeting was also used for a conversation related to the need to continue the dialogue to unblock the process of opening accession talks between North Macedonia and the EU. In the conversation with Prime Minister Petkov, Prime Minister Kovachevski stressed that the greatest benefit for both countries is to unlock the accession process with solutions based on European values ​​supported and accepted by both parties while respecting the dignity of citizens,” the press release added.
