Macedonian President GordanaSiljanovska-DavkovaGordanaSiljanovska-Davkova told journalists Friday she congratulated Rumen Radev on his party’s victory in the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, stressing that she expects the new Bulgarian Government to have a constructive approach and an understanding of the need for enlargement.

“Of course I congratulated Radev, I sent him a message. And then he called me. We talked. I wished him success, I expressed my belief that since he received such a high majority, it is a guarantee of stability, that probably the Bulgarian people, the Bulgarian citizens recognized in him a stable element of the state and the nation, that he will probably be able to easily form a government and implement his program,” the president said in a statement to the media in Parliament, on the sidelines of the 20th Conference of Presidents/Speakers of Parliaments of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.

Siljanovska-Davkova points out that the majority and stability are also important for Macedonia because, as she emphasizes, “we will have someone to talk to.”

“I emphasized that for me the regional approach is important, that I expect a friendly relationship, a constructive relationship, an understanding of the need for enlargement. I expect, of course, the organization of a meeting,” said President Siljanovska-Davkova.

Rumen Radev won an absolute majority of MPs in the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria held Sunday.
