Members of the Ministry of Interior seized 2.4 tons of drugs in 2022 with a total value of about six million euros, informed the Macedonian Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski.
“Most of the seizure narcotics are marijuana, but there’s also hashish, cocaine, there is also heroin, amphetamines and about 20 tons of precursors for the production of synthetic drugs. 2.5 months ago, we destroyed the largest amount of drugs from the 1990s to today – around 10.3 tons of narcotic drugs. At the same time, we have prevented several international transports of drugs through international channels that pass through the neighboring countries. All of that remains a priority in the coming period for these criminal structures that deal with various types of crimes to be brought to justice,” Spasovski said in an interview with TV Plus.
According to Spasovski, 2022 was a successful year for the Ministry of Interior, not only in the area of suppression of drug and arms trafficking, but also in general.
Minister Spasovski underlined that the fight against drug and weapons trafficking will be one of the top priorities this year as well.
