The Serbian government declared three days of mourning after the massacre in which a student from Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school in Belgrade’s central neighborhood of Vrachar killed eight classmates and a member of the school security this morning and wounded six more students and a teacher, which caused the shutdown of elementary and secondary schools in the capital. The three-day mourning will begin on May 5.
Primary and secondary schools in Belgrade will not work today, and Serbia’s Minister of Education Branko Ružić announced at an extraordinary press conference that classes in all schools in Serbia will begin tomorrow with a minute of silence.
The Minister of Health Dr. Danica Grujicić confirmed that one of the injured students is in an extremely serious condition and doctors are fighting for her life, after she was seriously injured in the shooting.
