With 58 votes against and 19 in favor, MPs did not accept the no-confidence motion on the work of Macedonian Minister of Interior Pance Toshkovski, forwarded by the opposition Levica. A heated debate preceded the vote in the legislative chamber. The opposition demanded political responsibility for the situation in the security sector and the work of the Ministry of Interior.

Minister Toshkovski responded that the no-confidence motion is not a judgment on his work, but a collection of political points. According to him, everyone is equal before the law for the first time.

Accusations of nepotism, conflict of interest, partisanship of the police by the opposition, assured the ruling majority that he is successfully leading the department.

This is not the first time that Minister Toshkovski’s work has been the subject of a no-confidence motion in the Parliament. This is the third opposition initiative for his dismissal – two forwarded by Levica, and one by DUI.
