The Government led by VMRO-DPMNE continues to implement policies and investments aimed at increasing domestic electricity production, reducing dependence on imports and ensuring a stable and secure energy system for citizens and companies, VMRO-DPMNE said on Wednesday.
“Despite the opposition’s claims that electricity prices would go up by 5%, the real increase is 2.28%, which is among the lowest increase rates in Europe. At the same time, new legal solutions open up the possibility of reducing the price of electricity for households by 5 to 10%, and the measures taken to subsidize electricity directly protect the standard of citizens and prevent price shocks for households. On the other hand, the long-term goal is for Macedonia to produce more domestic electricity and gradually reduce its dependence on imports. Thus, in April this year, domestic production covered 88.8 percent of the total electricity consumption in the country, which is a significant step towards the strategic goal of Macedonia becoming a net exporter of electricity,” the ruling party said in a press release.
