An Air Tractor firefighting plane from the Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) has been involved in extinguishing the large fire that broke out this afternoon near Strumica.
According to PRD head Stojanche Angelov, and Strumica Mayor Petar Jankov, for now the fire has not managed to reach the houses and cottages in the Sofilar area and there is no immediate danger to them.
“After the fire broke out, the Strumica Fire Department intervened in time and did not allow the fire to spread and reach houses in the village of Vodocha. Due to the strong wind, the fire changed direction and spread towards the village of Banica and the Sofilar area. An Air Tractor firefighting plane is working to extinguish the fire, which will have a major impact on extinguishing the fire,” said Mayor Jankov.
