A large wildfire raging on Serbian territory is approaching the Macedonian border, and thick smoke has already been observed over Lipkovo, Arachinovo and Kumanovo. According to information released by the deputy director of the PE National Forests, Kire Mihailov, the fire is moving from the direction of the Serbian village of Trnava towards the village of Strazha in the Municipality of Lipkovo, above the Tabanovce border crossing.
This is a very bad fire with enormous intensity, warns Mihailov, and urges for the fire to be brought under control before it approaches Macedonian territory. The thick smoke, according to his information, has already enveloped almost the entire Municipality of Lipkovo, parts of the Municipality of Arachinovo, and is also felt in Kumanovo.
The situation comes at a time when Macedonia is also facing a large number of active fires. In the past 24 hours alone, 31 wildfires were registered, eight of which remain active.
